Artist-in-Residence Opportunity at Pendle Hill

Arts PhotoAre you a Quaker Artist looking for a spiritual community to live in while working on a creative project of your choice? Did you know that Pendle Hill provides Artist-in-Residence opportunities for between ten to thirty weeks each year through its Minnie Jane Arts Scholarship?

For those of you who haven’t heard about Pendle Hill, it is a 23 acre Quaker education, retreat, and conference center located near Philadelphia that offers at least one Quaker artist creative time every year where you can stay spiritually grounded in a regular pattern of community fellowship, work, worship, and study. As an Artist-in-Residence, you will be supported to focus on a project in fine arts, crafts, performing arts, creative writing, music composition or another artistic pursuit that demonstrates commitment to Quaker values, spirituality, ministry, witness and outreach in consultation with Pendle Hill’s Arts and Spirituality Teacher. You will also make good friends, eat lovingly prepared local and organic meals, and have the option of attending various Pendle Hill educational events while on Pendle Hill’s campus. Library privileges and auditing courses at nearby Swarthmore College are also a possibility.

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE 2014-2015 “ACADEMIC” YEAR: We are currently accepting rolling applications for this academic year for residencies to take place between January through August, 2015.

DEADLINE FOR THE 2015-2016 “ACADEMIC” YEAR: March 1, 2015, for residencies that will take place between September 2015 and August 2016.
